We are hopeful that our Summer Science Camps will go on as planned this summer! And we’re working on a plan to offer local families the opportunity to sign up for them now, while keeping in mind that we are all hesitant to commit to any events at this time.

Officials have indicated they may allow community settings for children, including summer camps, to reopen by June. If camps are allowed to proceed, we’ll be ready—our eight offerings, from Wizards-in-Training to Advanced Youth Backpacking Trek, are memory-making adventures for kids ages 5 to 17.

We know that kids everywhere have been overly saturated with screen time and deprived of outdoor play in the parks. Our educators remain hopeful that we will be able to offer camps this summer as a much-needed “return to nature” for children throughout Sonoma. At the same time, safety is the most important factor regarding when and how we reopen our camps—and because of that we may limit sign-ups to a lower-than-normal number this year.

With that in mind, we encourage everyone to sign up now if your kids would like to join us for the summer programming offered at our sites. Sign-ups will be billed only after camps are confirmed.

Note that scholarships are available and will be prioritized for essential workers, low-income and recently unemployed families. Here is the link for our scholarship application to all camps: https://forms.gle/AdZDcXRcWvoxBXKf6.

Sonoma Ecology Center Summer Science Camps provide children with the opportunity to learn about science and connect with nature through adventures, explorations, and hands-on activities. Campers will make new friends, develop new skills, and work with a highly qualified staff of professional educators and naturalists. The camps are based at either Sugarloaf Ridge State Park or Sonoma Garden Park.
