This in-person field workshop hosted by Swanton Pacific Ranch is an opportunity to learn about fuels management, wildfire resilience, and community protection through examples of work by local communities (Saddle Mountain Preserve, Monan’s Rill, and Pepperwood Preserve) within the Mayacamas Range. The program will feature prescribed fire, corridor fuels treatment, and post-fire treatments.
Join Sonoma Ecology Center, in partnership with Sonoma County Ag + Open Space District, Master Gardeners of Sonoma County, and longtime local landscaper and Sonoma Springs Community Hall Executive Director, Seth Dolinsky, at the picturesque Sonoma Garden Park on March 8, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, for a practical, "how-to" workshop on using California native plants in your garden and landscaping. This event will focus on designing water-wise, sustainable landscapes that thrive in our changing climate—covering everything from choosing ideal natives for xeriscaping and attracting pollinators, to enhancing fire resilience and adding vibrant color. You’ll receive hands-on guidance, then explore Water-wise Demonstrations developed by UC Master Gardeners of Sonoma County, seeing firsthand how native plants can conserve resources while preserving Sonoma’s natural beauty.
