SUMMARY:Guided Spring Hike at Saddle Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a scenic and educational hike at the stunning 960-acre Saddle Mountain Preserve\, located above Rincon Valley on the eastern edge of Santa Rosa in the Mayacamas Mountains. This guided hike is hosted by Sonoma Ecology Center and Ag + Open Space\, exploring land recently impacted by the Glass Fire. \nLeading the hike will be Monica Delmartini\, Ag + Open Space’s resident fire ecologist\, and Tony Passantino\, Education Program Manager at Sonoma Ecology Center. Monica will share insights into post-fire land management\, wildfire ecology\, and the role of fire in shaping California’s landscapes\, discussing forest resiliency\, fire recovery\, and ecological benefits of natural fire cycles. \nThis is a moderately strenuous hike covering 3-4 miles with significant elevation gain along established trails and fire roads. A shallow water crossing is part of the route. Please come prepared with water\, lunch\, and appropriate gear for the day’s weather. The hike will proceed in light rain but will be canceled in the event of heavy rain. \nThis outing is free of charge\, made possible by Sonoma County voters through funding from Ag + Open Space’s quarter-cent sales tax. \nWe hope to see you on the trail!
