Co-Composted Biochar
This product uses the same wood-based biochar that is used for the product above, but it is instead blended with high-quality compost and “cooked” (or co-composted) during the composting maturation period. This activates and supercharges the biochar, which makes up 20% of the final product. If your soil is poor and needs more organic matter added along with the biochar, this is a good choice. We recommend an application rate of 4 to 5 bags per 32 sq. ft. of planter bed. 1 ¾ cubic foot bag: $15; or 2 for $25.
Another application option would be to add several healthy scoops added to each individual planting hole (for starts), or just down the planting row, blending thoroughly before planting seeds.

These products are available at the Harvest Market Barn on Saturday mornings from 9:00 – 12:00 pm, and we GREATLY appreciate your support and interest in building healthier soils. This biochar program was made possible this year by local garden enthusiast, Fiona Prichard.
